Silva-Tech/South, Ltd. is a professional reforestation and forestry vegetation management company headquartered in Center, Texas. In 1999, J. Mike Bird’s son, Mike Bird, graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry Business, and went to work for Bird Forestry Services, Inc. Then in 2001, Mike took over daily operations of STS as Vice President. In 2002, Mike earned a Master of Business from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a year later became President of STS.

Annually, STS applies forestry herbicides to approximately 15,000 to 25,000 acres of industrially and privately owned lands, and reforests nearly 2,000 acres of privately owned lands. STS also provides mulching services on approximately 2,000 acres a year for real estate, recreational, and forest management purposes, as well as a variety of other vegetation management projects.

A permanent staff, including ten foresters and biologists, is maintained to help forest landowners maximize economic returns through sound silvicultural decisions and applications. The ability to provide clients with timely, professional, and cost effective services has been vital to the company’s success.
